Some people love XXX Church…some people hate it. Personally, porn and addiction is a very real thing and I am all for what XXX Church is doing. I find it interesting that they recently caught quite a bit of heat from the church organization that Kirk Cameron is a part of. You really have to hear the radio show and read the blog post yourself to hear how they blast XXX Church calling their ministry “filth.” It upset me pretty bad because they compared XXX Church to another supposed ‘church’ ministry that is doing shot glasses in bars with the other people drinking.

How could someone be so judgemental? They ask the question “what would Jesus do?”  Are they serious here?! These people obviously have NEVER had a problem with porn addiction OR known anyone who has. I mean people who have a problem with it are NOT going to fall on their face and seek help if a ministry or organization points the finger in their face and say, “DON’T DO IT BECAUSE IT’S A SIN.”

Don’t get me started. Jesus shocked and angered the judgmental Pharisees because he did things that he was not “supposed” to do - like eat with prostitutes and tax collectors.

What do you all think?

PS - Karen from Addiction Recovery Blog was so kind as to leave me a message on my site. Her blog is full of some great information. Be sure to check it out.

Also, another great website to share your addiction recovery and story is Heart Support.

I was inspired recently when I heard a popular speaker talk about how he is creating a To Don’t List instead of the traditional To Do List. After much pondering, here is my To Don’t List for 2008.

1. Don’t keep putting my husband and boys last.
2. Don’t agree to do things just because I think I’m needed (can we say Appoval Addict?)
3. Don’t be afraid to say “no,” and don’t feel extreme guilt afterwards. (Say no to 95% of things, and yes to 5%).
4. Don’t make any more LISTS of things I can’t accomplish in one day. After all, tomorrow is never guaranteed.
5. Don’t feel overwhelmed because I feel like I’m losing control. I never had control over anything anyway.
6. Don’t be afraid to say what I believe.
7. Don’t blindly follow someone else’s convictions or beliefs without prayerful study in the Word for myself. I am accountable for my own salvation.
8. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
9. Don’t be afraid to confront.
10. Don’t judge others just because they don’t look, feel, think, or sound like me.
11. Don’t let the messy house upset me.
12. Don’t be two-faced. Be real inside and out. People will find out the real you if you try to hide it for too long. Just be real.
13. Don’t get involved in one more activity this year. 2007 was the year of burn out.
14. Don’t be afraid to step away and let someone else get the credit. God saw, that’s all that matters.
15. Don’t get a big head.
16. Don’t continue to get disappointed. It’s my fault if I do, I put the expectation there to begin with.
17. Don’t try to be all things to all men…even if you KNOW how to do it. You don’t have to be Saviour to the world…Jesus already has that job.
18. Don’t stay up all night. It’s okay to get 8 hours of sleep a night. You deserve it.
19. Don’t be afraid to take care of yourself. Your body is the temple of God, it’s your responsibility to keep it in tune.
20. Don’t let anything distract you from your special relationship from God this year.
